California State Attorney General Jerry Brown
In a letter to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger dated Sept. 25, Chief Deputy Attorney General James M. Humes said the office has “opened an investigation of both ACORN and the circumstances under which ACORN employees were videotaped.” The Governor had asked State Attorney General Jerry Brown to look into the incidents.
On October 15, 2009, David Lagstein, who is ACORN’s chief organizer in California’s San Diego area, attended a meeting with members of the East County Democratic Club (ECDC) in a public restaurant.
Anyone who has followed the ACORN issue is, by now, aware of the close and cozy relationship that community group has with the democratic party and Mr. Lagstein must have felt very comfortable duing this meeting because he spoke very freely about the State Attorney General’s investigation of his organization.
Unfortunately, for Mr. Lagstein, he spoke a little too freely and an audio recording was made of his conversation with the East County Democrat Club which centered around the ongoing State Attorney Gensral's investigation.
DAVID LAGSTEIN:
“The Attorney General’s Office is doing an investigation of these inidents. This is very political…this is probably about two weeks ago he put out a release saying I’m going to do an investigation of this incident and if any laws were broken either by the videographers or by Acorn I’ll do that investigation. Certainly we are fully cooperating, some of the investigators visited our office this morning and I think they really understood our problem. Not surprisingly the Governor put out a big press release, you know, “Attorney General taking down Acorn” which is just completely not what’s happening but it was a good opportunity for a press release for the Governor and the other thing, you know, you have to find humor in this situation as the Governor jumps on the bandwagon and says “Oh what a menace to society Acorn is”, so we pulled out this picture… this is our L.A. board member Martha Sanchez with the Governor applauding in the background when the minimum wage was raised so you know he certainly felt different when he was trying to take credit, so you know, it’s a funny picture for people to try and pass around that we are getting out so… uhmm… so that’s what..uhhm… the Attorney General is expected to make an announcement of his investigation and that’s going to be happening uhmmm….”
ECDC:
"Is that the U.S. Attorney General?”
LAGSTEIN:
"I’m sorry, that’s the State Attorney General, Jerry Brown so that’s a good thing.”….The Attorney General is a political animal as well, but certainly every bit of communication we have had with him has suggested that fault will be found with the people that did the video and not with Acorn.”
Isn't that intresting? According to Mr.Lagstein, it's a good thing the investigation is being conducted by Jerrry Brown because he is a political animal and every time Lagstein and Brown's office have spoken suggests that Acorn will be found free of any wrongdoing!
Could it be that State Attorney General Jerry Brown is simply going through the motions and manufacturing an investigation to fit an already reached finding of innocence on the part of Acorn?
I am quite sure you won't be hearing anything about this from the New York or L.A. Times or any of the mainstream media for that matter!.
Perhaps it's time for the "Terminator" to call his Attormey General to his office for a long chat!
