American Citizens outside a clinic waiting for non-existent government promisedswine flu vaccine!
I personally believe that the actions of our government are quickly heading in the direction of socialism.
The promise of socialism has always been equality though redistribution of wealth and government control and distribution of all resources and services. Unfortunately, the historical result of socialism has always been a rich government and a poor citizenry.
Commonly this occurs with heavy taxation with the idea that the government will then redistribute the wealth through government run programs. The problem is that since the money (your taxes) first goes to the government, that where the majority of money stays. The members of government, our elected representatives and their cronies, always take care of themselves first. And when our government representatives actually do put a plan in place, for the most part they exempt themselves from it.
Two perfect examples of this type of socialist governing are Social Security and Health Care. When you hear our elected representatives speaking eloquently about the need for these type programs always remember, they are not affected by any of them. Their eloquent passion stems primarily from their own self interest, the dollars pouring into their coffers from various lobbyists and special interest groups and winning their next election.
If the Obama Health Care bill is passed by the Senate and signed into law by the President keep in mind that the members of Congress have opted to exempt themselves from all its provisions choosing to keep their “gold plated” health care packages.
Another example…the nasty swine flu bug has been detected in 46 states now, and is rapidly spreading to schools and workplaces. The President has declared a "national emergency" which is mostly a technical step; it allows federal and state resources to be mobilized to fight the epidemic. Our government promised 120 million doses of vaccine by mid-October 200 million doses being made available by the end of the year. Guess what. Only 30 million doses were available in mid-October and citizens are spending hours in line outside area clinics only to be told there were out of stock of the vaccine! (Note: The photo above shows that at least one citizen figured this out for himself!)
But guess who the vaccine was initially and quietly made available to? You got it, the politicians. Oh, and I almost forgot, our Commander in Chief was going to make the vaccine available to the terrorits being held at our military base in Guantanamo Cuba but suddenly reversed the decision when it leaked to the media.
That being said, lets set aside the problem of greed and self interest on the part of our elected representatives for a moment and instead examine how well they manage those social programs they do manage to put in place.
The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 - they had had 234 years to get it right; it is broke.
Social Security was established in 1935 - they had had 74 years to get it right; it is broke.
Fannie Mae was established in 1938 – they had had 71 years to get it right; it is broke.
The "War on Poverty" started in 1964 - they had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked and our entire country is broke and bordering on a welfare state.
Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 – they had 44 years to get it right; they are broke.
Freddie Mac was established in 1970 – they had had 39 years to get it right; it is broke.
Billions of dollars were spent in the massive political payoffs called TARP, the "Stimulus", the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009..... none show any signs of working, and there is a good *(racial slur)* of that money that he government cannot account for although ACORN appears to have found a new source: the American taxpayer.
"Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009! It took cars (that were the best some people could afford) and replaced them with high-priced and less-affordable cars, mostly Japanese. A good percentage of the profits went out of the country. And the American taxpayers take the hit for Congress' generosity in burning three billion more of our dollars on failed experiments.
So with a perfect 100% management failure rate and a record that proves that "services" they have shoved down our throats are failing faster and faster, they want the rest of us to believe they can be trusted with a government-run health care system?
Now I may have been born ysterday but I have certainly been in town all night! I wouldn't trust these clowns to run a street hot dog cart!
