Macy's Politically Correct Santa

For more years than I care to remember, the appearance of Jolly Old St. Nick at the end of the Macy’s Parade, smiling broadly and waving to the children and then, of course, saying those magic words “Merry Christmas”, signified the official start of the Christmas Holiday Season

As the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade drew to a close last Thursday thousands of people gathered at Herald Square suddenly broke out into cheers of happiness as Santa Claus made his appearance at 34th Street.

Suddenly there he was, in his brand new sleigh packed with bags of presents for good little boys and girls atop his workshop, standing and waving to the adoring crowd of children and adults.

As Santa’s float pulled in front of Macy’s a hush came over he crowd and Santa turned to the crowd of spectators and cameras, placed his finger aside his nose and then spread his arms wide shouting those magic words….

“Happy Thanksgiving to One and All!”

Happy Thanksgiving? What was that all about?

What happened to “Merry Christmas”?

Have the “P.C.” police finally gotten their hooks into Macy’s so that they, along with many others, are now afraid to mention the verboten word, “Christmas”?

TIME Magazine "Jumps the Shark"!

U.S. Census Bureau employee Bill Sparkman was found dead, hanging from a tree earlier this year on September 12th, in an area of the Daniel Boone National Forest in Clay County, Kentucky.

Mr. Sparkman’s body had the word “FED” written on his chest at the time his body was discovered.

Shortly thereafter the Kentucky State Police, assisted by the FBI announced that they were investigating the death to determine both the cause and means of Mr. Sparkman’s death (homicide, suicide, accident, etc.)

Despite the fact that the investigation of Mr. Sparkman’s death was still ongoing, on September 25, 2009, TIME Magazine published a story entitled Government Distrust and a Dead Census Taker which portrayed the death as a homicide, attempting to link the Census worker’s death to the ongoing Tea Parties, Town Hall Meetings and demonstrations by the conservative right of our nation.  The article  included references to  the fact that this rural aea of Kentucky is possessed with a strong anti-Obama fervor and voted predominantly for John McCain in the last Presidential election.  The story even managed to sneak in references to Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly within in their hypothsis.

"The discovery of the body of Bill Sparkman, 51, a substitute teacher and a field worker for the bureau, comes at a time when talk media, tea parties and white-hot town-hall meetings have fanned antigovernment sentiment. Speculation has run rampant that the Sparkman case may be related to the vitriol. Kentucky...voted overwhelmingly for Senator John McCain during the 2008 presidential election….was it part of the recent rage at what right-wing commentators decry as the big-spending, socialistic government of the first African-American President?"

Just last week Kentucky authorities determined that Mr. Sparkman had, in fact, committed suicide and had intentionally staged his death in such a manner as to make it appear as a homiicde.  Investigators stated Mr. Sparkman's motive for doing so was to ensure his family could collect on a recently purchased life insurance policy.

In addition to making a mockery of a tragic human situation with their lunatic conspiracy theory reporting, TIME Magazine has finally "jumped the shark" and joined the rest of the mainstream media on the trash heap which represents the sad epithet of objective journalism in our country.

"Climategate" and Obama Science Czar John Holdren

Although you won’t read about it in any of our U.S. mainstream media outlets, an November 24th article published in the Canada Free Press by Dr, Tim Ball and Judi McLeod, reveals that President Obama’s Science Czar, John Holdren, is up to his eyeballs in the growing Climagate scandal.

Lift up a rock and another snake comes slithering out from the ongoing University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit (CRU) scandal, now riding as “Climategate”.

Obama Science Czar John Holdren is directly involved in CRU’s unfolding Climategate scandal. In fact, according to files released by a CEU hacker or whistleblower, Holdren is involved in what Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Canadian climatologist Dr. Tim Ball terms “a truculent and nasty manner that provides a brief demonstration of his lack of understanding, commitment on faith and willingness to ridicule and bully people”.

“The files contain so much material that it is going to take some time t o put it all in context,” says Ball. “However, enough is already known to underscore their explosive nature. It is already clear the entire claims and positions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are based on falsified manipulated material and is therefore completely compromised.

“The fallout will be extensive as material continues to emerge. Reputations of the scientists involved are already destroyed, however fringe players will continue to be identified and their reputations destroyed or sullied.”

While the mainstream media is bending into pretzels to keep the scandal under the rug, Climategate is already the biggest scientific scandal in history because of the global policy implications."

Bulletin...Tiger Woods in Fender Bender!

Stop the presses!

Tiger Woods was injured in a car accident early Friday outside his Florida mansion, and a local police chief said his wife used a golf club to smash out the back window and help get the world's No. 1 golfer out of the SUV.

Woods was treated and released from a hospital in good condition, his spokesman said. The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods' vehicle hit a fire hydrant and a tree in his neighbor's yard as he pulled out of his driveway at 2:25 a.m.

My only question is...did his wife use a wood or an iron to break the car window?

Convicted Felon, Marha Stewart, calls Sarah Palin "Dangerous!"

Convicted Felon Martha Stewart was interviewed last week on cable TV HLN network (formerly CNN Headline News) on Show Bix Tonight.

When asked about her thoughts on Sarah Palin, Stewart replied…

“She's a very boring to me. Very boring, and a very, to me, kind of a, a dangerous person. I mean, to, she's dangerous… She speaks, she's, she's so confused. And anyone like that in government is a real problem.”

In response to another question as to whether or not she had watched any of the Sarah Plain interviews or read Palin’s new book, Going Rogue”, Stewart said…

Why's everybody asking that? I wouldn't, I wouldn't watch her if you paid me.

Hey Martha, the question should not be "Why is everyone asking that?, rather we should be asking why is anyone bothering to ask Martha Stewart about her thoughts on the former Governor of Alaska.

According to Stewart, Sarah Palin is "very boring", "a dangerous person", very "confused" and a "real problem" and she arrives at those assertions by refusing to watch Palin's interviews or read her book?

Then again, Martha  also became very annoyed when she was recently asked her opinion of the Food Net Work Super Star, Rachel Ray.  Martha responded that Ms. Ray's newest cookbook wasn't all that original and then added, "I don't even think she has a garden, does she?"

I can't wait to hear Ms. Stewart's views on Health Care and Immigration and Energy reform!

Why won't Attorney General Holder Investigate ACORN?

On the day of the 2008 Presidental election, the New Black Panther Party, in full combat style uniform and sunglasses, carrying weapons, intimidated voters at a Philadelphia polling station which was captured on video (above).

Imagine if Ku Klux Klan members had stood menacingly in military uniforms, with nightsticks, in front of a polling place. Add to it that they had hurled racial threats and insults at voters who tried to enter.

Now suppose that the government, backed by a nationally televised video of the event, had won a court case against the Klansmen except for the perfunctory filing of a single, simple document - but that an incoming Republican administration had moved to voluntarily dismiss the already-won case.

Surely that would have been front-page news, with a number of firings at the Justice Department.

The flip side of this scenario is occurred last July. The culprits weren't Klansmen; they belonged to the New Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. One of the defendants, Jerry Jackson, is an elected member of Philadelphia's 14th Ward Democratic Committee and was a credentialed poll watcher for Barack Obama and the Democratic Party when the violations occurred. Rather conveniently, last month, the Obama administration has asked that the cases against Mr. Jackson, two other defendants and the party be dropped.

The Voting Rights Act is very clear. It prohibits any "attempt to intimidate, threaten or coerce" any voter or those aiding voters.
After the 2000 Presidental election, Democrats complained about voter intimidation in Florida by pointing to a police car that had been two miles away from a polling place. The police didn't do anything to anyone, but their presence was deemed sufficient to vaguely intimidate people en route to the polls.

In this case, the New Black Panther Party, in combat garb and armed with nightsticks, actually blocked access to a poll. If a Republican administration had done this, it would be front-page news and every civil rights group in the country would have been screaming about it. Unfortunately, the majority of the mainstream media, not unlike Chris Matthews, were too busy enjoying that warm tingly feeling that was running up their legs by the Obama candidacy.

The explanation for moving to dismiss the case is shocking. According to the Department of Justice: "These same Defendants have made no appearance and have filed no pleadings with the Court. Nor have they otherwise raised any other defenses to this action. Therefore, the United States has the right ... to dismiss voluntarily this action against the Defendants."

In other words, because the defendants haven't tried to defend themselves, the Justice Department won't punish them.  By that logic, if a murderer doesn't respond to the charges, he should be let free.

But not too worry...U.S. Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. then quietly moved to appoint a criminal prosecutor to investigate alleged CIA abuses committed during the interrogation of terrorism suspects, current and former U.S. government officials said. A senior Justice Department official said that Holder envisioned an inquiry that would be narrow in scope, focusing on "whether people went beyond the techniques that were authorized" in Bush administration memos that liberally interpreted anti-torture laws.

Of course! Investigating the waterboarding of a radical islamic Fundamentalist, hell bent on killing Americans, trumps investigating the New Black Panther Party, which by the way, actively endorsed Barack Obama's presidency, when they physically intimidate citizen voters at a poling place with nightsticks!

And then we have Attorney General Holder's recent deision to move four terrorists from Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, where they have already admitted their guilt regrding the September 11, 2001 attacks on this natiuon,  to New York City where they will be afforded all due process and other legal rights during the course of a federal trial that will most assuredly take several years.  The defendants have already stated that they now intend to plead not guilty in order that they may avail themselves of the opportunity provided by President Obama and his Attorney General to spew their Islamic Fundamentalist lunancy on a world stage!

But as long as the main stream media continues to ignore or minimize the tsunami of mounting evidence indicating ACORN's widespread corruption and misuse of public funds, Attorney General Holder is quite comfortable in dismissing the issue as well, just as he did in the 2008 instance of voter intimidate by members of the New Black Panther Party in Philadelphia.

This is simply crazy and one more indication of just how out of control this administration has become.

Roseanne Barr - "Obama has done fantastic things"

The above video is of Roseanne Barr speaking at an Acorn rally held in California back in February of this year.  Remember, at the time of Miss Barr's statements, Barrack Obama has been in office for only 30 days and very little attention was being paid to the community group ACORN as the release of the James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles video tapes of Acorn staff were still some 7 months in the future.  As stated at the start of the video, Miss Barr proudly admits to being a member of ACORN.

At the time, Congresswoman Michelle Bachman was not unlike a voice in the wilderness raising serious concrns about the ACORN oganization's involvement in partisan politics and voter fraud.  When asked about her thoughts on Congresswoman Bachman, Ms. Barr responded...

"Oh, she's just a shill.  She doesn't know what she is talking about.  I don't even know how she got her job except somebody paid her a lot to go over there and lie."

[Note to Ms. Barr:  If you would really like to know how Congresswoman Bachmann "got her job", I suggest you take a few minutes and read Artilcle 1, Section 2 of our country's Constitution.  That should clear it up for you. ]

Speaking about what she thought of Obama's resonse to the nation's mortgage crisis, Ms. Barr

"I know that he can only do what he can do with what was left. I mean, George Bush walked out the door with all the money...Like not even half of what the lesser thieves stole. That's what he left for the American people to like make their way on, and put Obama in a tough, he dug Obama such a deep hole. It's just not, you know. Anything that Obama does is just fantastic...And he has done fantastic things, and I hope he does some more."

[Note to Ms. Barr:  I have no problem with your defense of the new President by blaming the Bush administation at a time when Obama had only been in office for 30 days.  Of course I do find your assetions that "Anything that Obama does is just fantastic...And he has done fantastic things..." to be a bit over the top.  It would have been appreciated if you had actually cited some of those fantsatic things he has accomplished but then again, maybe that's just me.  After all, at the time of your appearance at this ACORN rally, Barrack Obama had already been submitted for consideration for the Nobel Peace Prize.]

Ms. Barr is then asked about whether or not some homeowners share culpability in the mortgage crisis for assuming mortgages they knew they could not financially sustain.

"On this one I say it is absolutely the banks fault, absoulutely the banks fault!"

[Note to Ms. Barr:  Ever hear of a little thing we call "personal responsibilty"?]

Unfortunately, some seven months have passed since Ms. Barr's appearance at this February 2009 rally and ACORN has since lost its federal funding by Congress, been stripped of its right to participate in the 2010 Census and is basically held in contempt as an organization by the American people.  Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann's popularity has soared among the American people, and Obama continues to astronomically increase our national debt, devalue our dollar, and "stimulate" our economy to a point where our unemployment rate has risen over 10 percent.

On the bright side, President Obama has won the Nobel Peace prize!  I guess for all those fantstic things he has accomplished in the first 30 days of his presidency.

Obama's Visit to Japan described as "the worst US-Japan summit meting in history"

If you listened solely to our nation's mainstream media and the White House, President Obama's recent trip to Japan was a success.  Unfortunately, if you take the time to read about the how the Japanese described this very same visit, you would receive a very different version of our President's trip to the Land of the Rising Sun.

The below article by Warner Todd Huston published in Andrew Bretibart's Big Government web site clearly states the Japanese view of Obama's recent visit.

Media Ignores Obama's Muffed Japan Visit

The Japanese media has reported that Obama’s recent state visit to their island nation was a big failure, but the U.S. media is mum on the mess that Team Obama made in Japan. He made multiple diplomatic gaffs and this is quite aside from the absurdly low bow that the incompetent president perpetrated upon greeting the Japanese Emperor Akihito.

Before we get to his other multiple fluffs and diplomatic errors, let’s explain what Obama was telling the Japanese people with his absurdly low bow. The sort of bow that Obama made is almost that of a “dogeza” bow. This is a sort of bow that is so low as to be considered a prostrated position. It is seen as an apology, a supplication, not a sign of respect. So, as we see, Obama once again showed that he wants to be known as the less-than president, that he is representing a prostrated people, and that he feels that to everyone he meets overseas he must apologize for this horrible U.S.A.

The inappropriate bow, however, wasn’t the only mistake that Obama committed in Japan. According to the mainstream Japanese weekly magazine Shukan Bunshun the visit was termed “miserable,” and “the worst US-Japan summit meeting in history” by Japanese insiders. Worse, the Japanese government was so upset at the visit that it retaliated at various points issuing slights right back to President Obama during his stay on Japanese soil.

From a translation by an American living in Japan comes news that Obama began the trip on a sour note when, with little advanced notice, the president seemed to arbitrarily change his arrival schedule in Japan throwing Japanese officials into chaos.

Obama was originally set to land in Japan on November 12, attend a summit meeting with Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama on the 13th, and then leave for Singapore on the 14th to attend the APEC Summit meeting. But according to the Japanese magazine, on Nov. 7 the Obama Administration abruptly changed plans and rescheduled the president’s arrival for the 13th instead of the 12th, shaving a day off the visit.

… their excuse for the delay was the shooting at Ft. Hood, Texas on the US Army base on November 5. But the fact of the matter is, the memoral service was on the November 10 and only took a day trip for Obama whereupon he returned immediately to Washington. After that, he had the National Security Council meeting on policy in Afghanistan on November 11th. However, he could have departed Washington D.C. right after that and could have still landed in Japan as everyone agreed and planned on, for the 12th.

In another slight to Japan, a Japanese ruling party spokesman noted that it was obvious to them that Obama was more interested in China on this trip anyway as four days were scheduled for the Communists while only two were scheduled for them.

The magazine notes that Obama was left waiting in a car for five minutes at the entrance to the Prime Minister’s Official Residence and this may have been a message of rebuke sent to Obama by Japanese officials for the president’s abrupt change of schedule.

Shukan Bunshun magazine also notes that while the Japanese had “a total of 14 officials, including six cabinet ministers, the Foreign Minister Okada, the Defense Minister Kitazawa,” the president’s retinue only consisted of members of “Team Obama” and no other American officials of high standing. This was taken as a message that Obama did not consider this meeting very important.

Consequently, after the meeting with Japanese officials, PM Hatoyama immediately left Japan for the APEC Summit essentially leaving Obama alone on Japanese soil even though Obama had several other high profile visits to wrap up in Japan. Japanese journalist Michael Yu noted that this was a message that Hatoyama did not feel much respect for Obama since, as host, he essentially abandoned his guest, President Obama, and flew off to Singapore.

The Japanese magazine characterizes this visit as the “worst” one ever.

“To tell you the truth, it had to have been the worst US-Japan Summit Meeting in history,” a source of ours at the Foreign Ministry revealed to us.

This is just one more example of “Team Obama” issuing one slight after another to our allies while slavishly devoting himself to our enemies. The British have felt it, the Germans, the French, and now the Japanese.

It all adds up to a White House that places little interest in good diplomatic relations with our allies.

//end of story//

Once again, the question has to be asked for the umpteenth time, when will our mainstream media return to any semblance of objective journaism?

What do Prostitution and the HIV (Aids) Virus Have in Common?

Would you believe Climate Change?

Due diligence requires that I admit to being a skeptic regarding most of the apocalyptic hysteria regarding the issue of climate change. I remember reading about similar warnings as a teenager back in the 60’s except, at the time, the magazine covers were all depicting a coming ice age due to global cooling complete with pictures of huge glaciers covering New York.

My personal skepticism aside, I did find the following statement by an official of the United Nations interesting when he claimed that Climate Change is now causing women who live in coastal areas of poor countries to become prostitutes thus increasing the rate of HIV infection in those areas.

Suneeta Mukherjee, country representative of the United Nations Food Population Fund (UNFPA), said women in the Philippines are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change in the country.

“Climate change could reduce income from farming and fishing, possibly driving some women into sex work and thereby increase HIV infection," Mukherjee said during this past Wednesday’s launch of the UNFPA annual State of World Population Report in Pasay City in the Philippines.

According the Al Gore’s merry band of eco-alarmists temperatures are now rising; extreme stprms are becoming more frequent; the ocean levels are rising; heat waves are increasing; snow seasons are becoming shorter; our landscapes are changing; increased risk of drought, fire and floods; more heat related illness and disease; economic problems; etc., etc., etc.

And now the United Nations has discovered a causative link beween climate change and prostitution and HIV?

What's next?  Climate change and its accompanying rise in global temperature will cause increased rates of alcoholism as more and more of us seek the climate controlled air conditioning of our neighborhood taverns?

Beitbart to A.G. Holder on Acorn - The Next Move is Yours!

Andrew Breitbart of Breitbart.com, who has been the driving force behind exposing the Acorn scandal, was interviewed by Sean Hannity yesterday at which time they released yet another damning video involving Acorn’s Los Angeles office.

During the interview, Mr. Breitbart stated that there exist more video tapes and not just of Acorn. Breibart went on to indicate that unless Attorney General Eric Holder conducts a “clean investigation” of Acorn, he will hold this tepes for release just prior to the 2010 election cycle. A transcript of Mr. Breitbart’s remarks may be found below th following video of the Hannity interview.

Andrew Breitbart:

There’s a lot of hypocrisy and the dust has settled for ACORN and at the end of the day they’ve recognized that Eric Holder, the Attorney General, has not initiated an investigation into ACORN after we now have seven tapes. There were five initially that came out, ACORN was defunded by the Senate, was defunded by the House, lost it’s link to the Census; while all that damage occurred, Congress didn’t come in to investigate them, obviously not the Attorney General’s office, and they’ve now realized let’s get back into business because they realized that the dust settled and they were not being investigated, it was Hannah, James, and me who were being investigated, that’s why we’ve been forced to offer this latest tape.

Hannity:

Are you saying, Andrew, that there are more tapes?

Breitbart:

Oh my goodness there are! Not only are there more tapes, it’s not just ACORN. And this message is to Attorney General Holder: I want you to know that we have more tapes, it’s not just ACORN, and we’re going to hold out until the next election cycle, or else if you want to do a clean investigation, we will give you the rest of what we have, we will comply with you, we will give you the documentation we have from countless ACORN whistleblowers who want to come forward but are fearful of this organization and the retribution that they fear that this is a dangerous organization. So if you get into an investigation, we will give you the tapes; if you don’t give us the [investigation], we will revisit these tapes come election time.

Okay Mr. Holder...the next move is up to you.

Dollars to doughnuts you won't be reading about this in the New York Times or the Wshington Post!

The U.S. Post Office - Yet Another Bail Out?

The United States Post Office recently announced that it lost $3.8 billion in the most recent fiscal year, which ended September 30th. It also delivered less mail - 26 billion fewer pieces less, a nearly 13 percent drop from the previous year. The bad news follows losses totaling $7.8 billion in 2007 and 2008.

The Postal Service, as it is quick to point out, is legally prohibited from taking tax dollars. But in order to stay afloat, the agency has been actively borrowing from the U.S. Treasury: At last count, according to Postal Service spokeswoman Yvonne Yoerger, it owes the government $10.2 billion.

Federal law dictates that the Postal Service can borrow up to $3 billion per year - but the debt cannot grow beyond $15 billion. That means that while the agency, which had revenues of $68.1 billion last year, could potentially borrow another $3 billion in 2010, it will soon no longer be able to legally borrow billions from the government.

Now any manager with a modicum of business operations savvy would look at this situation and decide that immediate changes have to be made far beyond the easy decision to simply raise rates in order to avoid reaching that point where it is legally prohibited from “borrowing” additional billions of taxpayer dollars from the Treasury Department.  If our Congress had one wit of a visionary thought process, the Post Office might not be fighting the likes of FedEx and UPS today!

Unfortunately, as a government agency, the Post Office must depend on the “business operations savvy” possessed by those members of Congress.

Illinois Democratic Rep. Danny Davis, a member of the Congressional subcommittee that oversees the Postal Service (and, until recently, its chairman), admitted that the agency "is between a rock and a hard place."

When asked what Congress can do about it Davis went on to suggest…

"It's just not generating the money that you need in order to keep operating, we’ve bailed out a lot of things, and I think the Postal Service is probably as important in one sense as some of the other places where we have put public money...I'm not afraid of spending public money to keep money flowing."

Note to Congress - Your cavalier attitude towards spending public money, make that throwing bad money after bad money, is one of the primary reasons our economy is in the toilet today!

Another bail-out? You have got to be kidding me!

I cringe when I think of what will happen when his fellow democrats much lauded health plan goes into the deficit tank (which it inevitably will) should it be passed into law. We will all be bailing that monstrosity out with our wallets also!

Grow up! Set aside your petty self interest, concerns about your next election, the cash flowing into your individual offices from lobbyists and other self interest groups and start acting like responsible elected representatives of the people that you are now only pretending to be.

Stop attempting to avoid personal responsibility by constantly chanting the mantra of your far left base that the problem was caused by a previous administration. The American people really don’t give a tinker’s damn whose fault it is! They want to know who is going to fix the problem without additional pillage of our wallets!

If there is a problem, work together to fix it or step aside and allow those who are capable of actually representing those who elected you to fix it!

European President Herman Van Rompuv calls for "Global Management" of the planet!

Europeans woke up yesterday to news they had their first full time European Union President, Belgian Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy.

I am quite sure President Obama, Al Gore and the rest of the far left one world government proponents and eco-alarmists are happy with Europe’s decision in this regard as one of the first things the European Union President Elect told the world was….

“The Climate Conference in Copenhagen is another step forward towards the global management of our planet…”

Obama Bows While Other World Leaders Shake Hands

Back in April of this year, our Commander in Chief bowed to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at a G-20 meeting in London, a scene that drew criticism on the right and praise from some Arab outlets.

The Washington Times called the alleged bow a "shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate" and said it violated centuries of American tradition of not deferring to royalty. The Weekly Standard, meanwhile, noted that American protocol apparently rules out bowing.

At the time an Obama aide who spoke on the condition of anonymity, advosed inquiring press that "It wasn't a bow. He grasped his hand with two hands, and he's taller than King Abdullah," said an Obama aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Later WHite House press questioned the White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs, if, in fact, the President had bowed to the Saudi Prince and Gibbs stumbled in his attempt to articulate a denial..."No, I think he bent over with both, to shake -- with both hands to shake his hand."

At the time I was willing to take a pass on this incident, attributing our Commander in Chief's inappropriate deference to the Saudi potentate to inexperience.

And then..............

...some 6 months later on November 14th, during his recent trip to the middle east, President Barack Obama bowed low to Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, and then added a number of smaller bows, before lunching with the royal couple.Obama, who is in the midst of a trip to Asia, went to the Imperial Palace in Tokyo for a rare meeting with Akihito.

As the photographic evidence this time did not provide the White House with and room for denial the Obama machine advised that our Commander in Chief has greeted the Japanese Emperor in a traditional manner according to protocol.

Any reservations I may entertained about Oama's "nivete’ on the world stage and his ‘not-ready-for-prime-time’ administration failure to understand the intricacies or symbols of world diplomacy were answered with the following video.

Not to mention the fact that, coming two days after Veterans Day, our Presidents bow to the Emperor of Japan was a slap in the face of those surviving veterans of World War II who participated in the battles with Japan in the Pacific.

Pictured in the above video are the Japanese Emperor meeting with the following world leaders....note there are 47 handshakes and only one, really deep bow.

Lest We Forget - "A Pittance of Time"

My sister forwarded this video to me prior to Veterans Day on November 11th but unfortunately I did not open it until earlier today.

It is a tremendously powerful and moving reminder to all of us that the "holiday" we now celebrate  as Veterans Day was originally known as "Remembrance Day"!

The story behind the video is as follows...

On November 11, 1999 Terry Kelly was in a drug store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. At 10:55 AM an announcement came over the stores PA asking customers who would still be on the premises at 11:00 AM to give two minutes of silence in respect to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for us.

Terry was impressed with the stores leadership role in adopting the Legions two minutes of silence initiative. He felt that the stores contribution of educating the public to the importance of remembering was commendable.

When eleven oclock arrived on that day, an announcement was again made asking for the two minutes of silence to commence. All customers, with the exception of a man who was accompanied by his young child, showed their respect.

Terrys anger towards the father for trying to engage the stores clerk in conversation and for setting a bad example for his child was channeled into a beautiful piece of work called, A Pittance of Time. Terry later recorded A Pittance of Time and included it on his full-length music CD, The Power of the Dream.

Thanks Margie, it was everything you said it was!

NYC Politics - self interest trumps good governance every time!

"Don't worry about it Mike...I'll take care of it!"

Earlier this year, on January 7, 2009, a bill (Intro # 0907-2009) was introduced at the City Council which would have amended the city’s administrative code to provide a 5 minute period for motorists prior to receiving a “muni-meter” parking violation.

That same day, the bill was referred for consideration to the City Council’s Committee on Transportation which held a hearing on the bill on February 25, 209 after which the bill was “laid over”, meaning it was set aside for action at a future date.

Surprisingly, considering the bill was sponsored by 20 Council Members, the bill is still in limbo with no further action having been taken.

As it turns out Mayor Michael Bloomberg was vehemently opposed to this bill as he could only envision the new law as cutting into parking violations revenue rolling into the city coffers. Obviously he could have simply vetoed it had the council passed the legislation and sent it to his office.

Unfortunately Mayor Mike, realizing that 2009 was an election year, was fully aware that if the council sent him this bill and he vetoed it, he would incur the wrath of city motorists who are already ticketed to death with traffic and parking related violations.

What’s a Mayor to do?

In Bloomberg’s case, it was an easy solution. He turned to the same person he turned to when he wanted the term limits law changed to allow him to run for a 3rd term - Council Speaker Christine Quinn.

Council sources have indicated to the New York Post that Quinn had the bill “laid over” with specific instructions not to act on it until after the recent November 3rd general election here in New York City to avoid Bloomberg having to sign it into law to avoid angering motorists and losing votes.

It’s bad enough that both Bloomberg and Quinn conspired to avoid his having to make a decision on this legislation until after the election so he could veto it without repercussion, but if you examine this issue closely, it gets stranger.

Speaker Quinn, a democrat, endorsed fellow democrat, Comptroller William Thompson for Mayor. If Quinn’s support of Thompson was a truly valid endorsement, why didn’t Quinn forward the bill to Bloomberg (a republican) prior to the election and force him to make a decision?

As usual, political self-interest trumps good governance every time!

Hear No Evil...Speak No Evil...See No Evil

It boggles the mind to consider the extent to which some of our liberal “progressive” fellow citizens will travel to keep from accepting the reality that our nation has been at war with facist Islam terrorists to ensure their idea of “cultural diversity”,  “political correctness" and "religious sensitivity."

Apparently our friends on the left find it so much easier to simply ignore the truth that is right in front of their eyes rather than admitting any inconvenient (politically incorrect) truths which might be revealed if they were to place blame where it belongs.

Mayor Richard Daley of Chicago, speaking of United States Army Major Nidal Hasan and the recent terrorist incident at Fort Hood, Texas, said that:

“Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don’t blame a group…"You don't blame a group. You don't blame a society, immigrant community because of actions of one group, one individual -- you cannot say that."

"We're dealing with a very different kind of war here," Dr. Phil McGraw, a celebrity psychologist, told CNN's Larry King on Thursday night. "And we know that there is a tremendous degree of stress with this war. And I think the military will tell you that it's a new animal and nobody knows exactly what to do with it."

"I cringe that he's a Muslim," said Evan Thomas of Newsweek. "I mean, because it inflames all the fears. I think he's probably just a nut case. But with that label attached to him, it will get the right wing going and it just -- I mean these things are tragic, but that makes it much worse."

"I think the speculation could potentially heighten backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers," said Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey. "And what happened at Fort Hood was a tragedy, but I believe it would be an even greater tragedy if our diversity becomes a casualty here."

Interviewing Veteran Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki on Wednesday’s CBS Early Show, co-host Harry Smith cited a cause of the shooting at Ft. Hood: “...the Iraq war, the escalation in number of cases of post traumatic stress disorder...”

Liberal Talk Show Radio Host Stephanie Miller suggested it could be because "George Bush made many people around the world feel like this was a war against Islam by using words like crusade…and the fact that he apparently was taunted for being Muslim."

Criminologist Patricia Brown offered th following on (where else?) CNN...

"First of all, we must define "terrorist." Under the United States Law Code: the term "terrorism" means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents; the term "terrorist group" means any group, or which has significant subgroups which practice, international terrorism. By this definition, Hasan does not even begin to qualify as a terrorist....He was simply a lone guy who had issues, problems, psychopathic behaviors that escalated to the point where he wanted to get back at society, and he took it out on his workmates like most of them do."

Montel Williams pontificated “No matter what it comes out to, at the end of the day, even if it comes out in the last five months and all his anxiety around his impending deployment, he decided his frame of reference was his religion and that was what was giving him, you know, the power within himself to make his stand, that doesn't mean that the religion is to blame.”

A government counter terrorism expert remarking about he FBI’s investigation of the Fort Hood incident stated:..."Had we launched an investigation of Hasan we'd have been crucified," the investigator said, adding that the communications were shared with the "appropriate chains."

There is only one simple truth that must be constantly kept in mind, political correctness, cultural diversity and inclusion be damned, and that is...

Not all Muslims are Jihadists but all Jihadists are Muslim!

If that factual statement of logic cannot be recognized and acted upon by those we have placed in positions of leadership and trust, then they no longer deserve those positions.

Is Jerry Brown in bed with ACORN?

California State Attorney General Jerry Brown

In a letter to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger dated Sept. 25, Chief Deputy Attorney General James M. Humes said the office has “opened an investigation of both ACORN and the circumstances under which ACORN employees were videotaped.” The Governor had asked State Attorney General Jerry Brown to look into the incidents.

On October 15, 2009, David Lagstein, who is ACORN’s chief organizer in California’s San Diego area, attended a meeting with members of the East County Democratic Club (ECDC) in a public restaurant.

Anyone who has followed the ACORN issue is, by now, aware of the close and cozy relationship that community group has with the democratic party and Mr. Lagstein must have felt very comfortable duing this meeting because he spoke very freely about the State Attorney General’s investigation of his organization.

Unfortunately, for Mr. Lagstein, he spoke a little too freely and an audio recording was made of his conversation with the East County Democrat Club which centered around the ongoing State Attorney Gensral's investigation.

DAVID LAGSTEIN:

“The Attorney General’s Office is doing an investigation of these inidents. This is very political…this is probably about two weeks ago he put out a release saying I’m going to do an investigation of this incident and if any laws were broken either by the videographers or by Acorn I’ll do that investigation. Certainly we are fully cooperating, some of the investigators visited our office this morning and I think they really understood our problem. Not surprisingly the Governor put out a big press release, you know, “Attorney General taking down Acorn” which is just completely not what’s happening but it was a good opportunity for a press release for the Governor and the other thing, you know, you have to find humor in this situation as the Governor jumps on the bandwagon and says “Oh what a menace to society Acorn is”, so we pulled out this picture… this is our L.A. board member Martha Sanchez with the Governor applauding in the background when the minimum wage was raised so you know he certainly felt different when he was trying to take credit, so you know, it’s a funny picture for people to try and pass around that we are getting out so… uhmm… so that’s what..uhhm… the Attorney General is expected to make an announcement of his investigation and that’s going to be happening uhmmm….”

ECDC:

"Is that the U.S. Attorney General?”

LAGSTEIN:

"I’m sorry, that’s the State Attorney General, Jerry Brown so that’s a good thing.”….The Attorney General is a political animal as well, but certainly every bit of communication we have had with him has suggested that fault will be found with the people that did the video and not with Acorn.”

Isn't that intresting? According to Mr.Lagstein, it's a good thing the investigation is being conducted by Jerrry Brown because he is a political animal and every time Lagstein and Brown's office have spoken suggests that Acorn will be found free of any wrongdoing!

Could it be that State Attorney General Jerry Brown is simply going through the motions and manufacturing an investigation to fit an already reached finding of innocence on the part of Acorn?

I am quite sure you won't be hearing anything about this from the New York or L.A. Times or any of the mainstream media for that matter!.

Perhaps it's time for the "Terminator" to call his Attormey General to his office for a long chat!

We are the government - Trust Us!

American Citizens outside a clinic waiting for non-existent government promisedswine flu vaccine!

I personally believe that the actions of our government are quickly heading in the direction of socialism.

The promise of socialism has always been equality though redistribution of wealth and government control and distribution of all resources and services.  Unfortunately, the historical result of socialism has always been a rich government and a poor citizenry.

Commonly this occurs with heavy taxation with the idea that the government will then redistribute the wealth through government run programs. The problem is that since the money (your taxes) first goes to the government, that where the majority of money stays. The members of government, our elected representatives and their cronies, always take care of themselves first. And when our government representatives actually do put a plan in place, for the most part they exempt themselves from it.

Two perfect examples of this type of socialist governing are Social Security and Health Care. When you hear our elected representatives speaking eloquently about the need for these type programs always remember, they are not affected by any of them. Their eloquent passion stems primarily from their own self interest, the dollars pouring into their coffers from various lobbyists and special interest groups and winning their next election.

If the Obama Health Care bill is passed by the Senate and signed into law by the President keep in mind that the members of Congress have opted to exempt themselves from all its provisions choosing to keep their “gold plated” health care packages.

Another example…the nasty swine flu bug has been detected in 46 states now, and is rapidly spreading to schools and workplaces. The President has declared a "national emergency" which is mostly a technical step; it allows federal and state resources to be mobilized to fight the epidemic. Our government promised 120 million doses of vaccine by mid-October 200 million doses being made available by the end of the year. Guess what. Only 30 million doses were available in mid-October and citizens are spending hours in line outside area clinics only to be told there were out of stock of the vaccine! (Note: The photo above shows that at least one citizen figured this out for himself!)

But guess who the vaccine was initially and quietly made available to? You got it, the politicians. Oh, and I almost forgot, our Commander in Chief was going to make the vaccine available to the terrorits being held at our military base in Guantanamo Cuba but suddenly reversed the decision when it leaked to the media.

That being said, lets set aside the problem of greed and self interest on the part of our elected representatives for a moment and instead  examine how well they manage those social programs they do manage to put in place.

The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775 - they had had 234 years to get it right; it is broke.

Social Security was established in 1935 - they had had 74 years to get it right; it is broke.

Fannie Mae was established in 1938 – they had had 71 years to get it right; it is broke.

The "War on Poverty" started in 1964 - they had 45 years to get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each year and transferred to "the poor"; it hasn't worked and our entire country is broke and bordering on a welfare state.

Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965 – they had 44 years to get it right; they are broke.

Freddie Mac was established in 1970 – they had had 39 years to get it right; it is broke.

Billions of dollars were spent in the massive political payoffs called TARP, the "Stimulus", the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009..... none show any signs of working, and there is a good *(racial slur)* of that money that he government cannot account for although ACORN appears to have found a new source: the American taxpayer.

"Cash for Clunkers" was established in 2009 and went broke in 2009! It took cars (that were the best some people could afford) and replaced them with high-priced and less-affordable cars, mostly Japanese. A good percentage of the profits went out of the country. And the American taxpayers take the hit for Congress' generosity in burning three billion more of our dollars on failed experiments.

So with a perfect 100% management failure rate and a record that proves that "services" they have shoved down our throats are failing faster and faster, they want the rest of us to believe they can be trusted with a government-run health care system?

Now I may have been born ysterday but I have certainly been in town all night!  I wouldn't trust these clowns to run a street hot dog cart!

Don't Rush to Judgement?

Major Nidal Hassan, United States Army

This man is not a victim!
This man is not a nut case!
This man is not suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome!
This man is a home grown American Muslim Terrorist!

The recent atrocity at Fort Hood, Texas, committed by a fanatical muslim masquerading as a American Citizen and a Medical Officer in the United States Army has placed a microscope on a problem within our nation that has been festering for a long time - Political Correctness gone insane!

The liberal left mainstream media is now asserting that Major Nidal Hassan was simply a nut case and the tragedy at Fort Hood was made worse by the he was also a muslim.

Evan Thomas, Editor at Large with Newsweek, publicly stated:

I cringe that he's a Muslim. I mean, because it inflames all the fears. I think he's probably just a nut case. But with that label attached to him, it will get the right wing going and it just -- I mean these things are tragic, but that makes it much worse.

NPR's Nina Totenberg soon chimed in with agreement...

“It really is tragic that he was a Muslim.”

The NY Times, MSNBC and CNN are trying to explain this attack on our military as the result of Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome even though Hassan had not been deployed to or served in or near a combat zone.

There are even those pundits on the left who are attempting to make Hassan the "victim" in this matter by blaming his actions on "bullying"! They claim that Hassan, a college educated physician/psychiatrist, with ten years of service in the United State Army as an Officer was uanable to handle "harassment" by his military colleagues as a result of his faith.

And of course our beloved leader, I mean our Commander in Chief, warns us not to rush to judgement even though he knows full well that Major Hassan is a Muslim fanatic, known to the FBI as a fan of suicide bombers and to colleagues as an opponent of our government, coolly buys weapons, heads to a military facility he knows will be packed with unsuspecting soldiers, waits for the crowd to thicken, then shouts, “Allah Ahkbar" (God is Great) and guns down 51 patriots, calmly reloading among the dead and dying.

Don’t rush to judgment?

I really and truly am beginning to believe we have all followed Alice down the rabbit hole!

House Passes "PelosiCare"!

We are now one step closer to Nationalized Health Care!

Late last night Nancy Pelosi reached into her hat and pulled out several "rabbits", much needed democrat votes, and squeaked out a victory for President Obama and the democtats.

The 220-215 vote cleared the way for the Senate to begin a long-delayed debate on the issue that has come to overshadow all others in Congress.

A triumphant Speaker Nancy Pelosi likened the legislation to the passage of Social Security in 1935 and Medicare 30 years later. (Note: I don't know if anyone whispered in Nancy's ear that Social Security and Medicare are not exactly shining examples of expert govenmental stewardship as they are both seriously mismanaged and , for the most part, broke!)

The bill drew the votes of 219 Democrats and Rep. Joseph Cao, a first-term Republican who holds an overwhelmingly Democratic seat in New Orleans. Opposed were 176 Republicans and 39 Democrats.

It's interesting to note that the opposition, or "no" votes, to the bill was much more "bi-partisan" than the "yes" votes.

I am sure that Harry Reid will schedule debate for the Senate Health Care package immediately and it wil be interesting to see how the legislstaion fares in that body.

Pelosi Feeling Confident...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi all-but-predicted passage of a House health reform bill about an hour ago, following an emotional appeal from President Barack Obama to fellow Democrats, urging them to “answer the call of history” and vote yes.

“Now’s the time to finish the job,” Obama said in the Rose Garden, following a 45-minute closed-door meeting with the House Democratic caucus on Capitol Hill.

“I reminded them that opportunities like this come around maybe once in a generation,” Obama said. “This is their moment, this is our moment, to live up to the trust the American people have pledged in us.”

Obama left the Hill without addressing reporters, but Pelosi took to the microphones after he left sounding confident of passage. "Today we will make not only history, but progress for America's working families," she said.

It is still unclear if, even after all these "historic" speeches, whether or not Pelosi will place the bill before the house for a vote today.

House Vote Update - Pelosi's Health Care Bill

UPDATE:

Late yesterday when it became increasingly apparent that Speaker Pelosi did not have the requisite votes to ensure passage of her Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962), many democrat house members indicated that they wanted to return home for the weekend but Nancy put her foot down!

Although acutely aware that the chances of a successful vote this weekend were, at best, poor, the Speaker told her troops that she wanted them available through the weekend on the outside chance that she could garner the additional votes needed at which time she would call as special session and hold the vote.

A friend of mine who works in D.C. called me and said that Nancy's real reason for keeping her house members in Washington over the weekend is that she did not want them returning to their districts and being "harassed" by their anti-health care constituents. Pelosi is using the weekend opportunity to cajole, intimidate, bribe or otherwise outright threaten her recalcitrant house members into swinging their support behind her bill.

Although she won't admit it, all the recent protests by the various "Tea Partys", Town Hall meetings and protest demontsrations in the Capitol have rattled Speaker Pelosi and she is afraid of any further erosion for this bill within her own party should they go home for the weekend and once again face their constituents ire.

Although the bill is still said to be set for a vote today, I really don't expect anything to materialize until sometime next week.
Keep in mind that even if Pelosi is able to garner sufficient votes for this bill and attain passage, Harry Reid and the Senate will still be required to pass it prior to sending it to the President for his signature.

Pelosi Knows Better than the Rest of Us!

Despite the growing Tea Party movement, desite all the Town Hall Meetings of last August, despite last Tuesday's Democrat losses and despite yesteday's anti-health care demonstrations in Washington D.C. it is becoming clearly apparent that Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, is going to try to force a vote on her “Affordable Heath Care for America Act (H.R. 3962) replete with its “public option”, oops, I mean “consumer option” sometime tomorow.

Ms. Pelosi apparently thinks the moment is ripe to use sheer political muscle to pass legislation reordering one sixth of the economy, with zero Republican support. The right mixture of "incentives" and Rahm Emanuel-style pressure, she believes, will bring enough Democrats to heel to vote for the bill.

For anyone who seriously believes that Speaker Pelosi and her democrat minions are not out to greatly expand governmental regulation over many aspects of our lives consider the fact that her 2,000 page tome on health care reform seeks not only to regulate health care insurance companies but small businesses as well. Consider the following.

Section 2572 of the bill (H.R. 3962) says,

“In the case of an article of food sold from a vending machine that – (I) does not permit a prospective purchaser to examine the Nutritional Facts Panel before purchasing the article or does not otherwise provide visible nutrition information at the point of purchase; and (II) is operated by a person who is engaged in the business of owning or operating 20 or more vending machines, “the vending machine operator shall provide a sign in close proximity to each article of food or the selection button that includes a clear and conspicuous statement disclosing the number of calories contained in the article.” (See page 1,515 of H.R. 3962 Section 2572 (H) (viii).

The National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA) has stated that the first year start up cost to its members who are generally small vendors, business owners and operators, would exceed $50 million dollars business with costs mounting further as labels or menus have to be updated with newly stocked products.

How does the small vendor owner/operator deal with this increased eglation? The increased operating costs will have to be passed along to the consumer.  Problem is, with the economy already deep in recession and unemployment nationwide exceeding 10%, fewer people are utilizing these vending machines. Thus the owner/operator will be left with two choices - assume the increased costs and go bankrupt, or, pass the increased cost along to an already shrinking customer base resulting in even fewer sales and then go bankrupt!
Bottom line, big government health care regulation will result in the small business owner vending machine operation becoming a thing of the past.
With our new administration up and running, it now appears that the more influence government can exert over our lives the happier Pelosi and her merry band of Washington D.C. progressive liberals will be given that they truly believe the American people are too ignorant to make decisions as trivial as a vending machine selection without governmental assistance (intrusion)!

By the way, anyone interested in trying to read this monstrosity of legislation can do so here link but keep in mind this is not the final bill the House will be voting on Saturday and there are still a large number of amendmenmts that will have to be appended to this bill, probably later today or tonight, which also means that no Congreeman voting tomorrow on this bill will have actualy read it.

Which reminds me, back on September 24, Pelosi told THE WEEKLY STANDARD that she was "absolutely" committed to putting the text of the final House bill online for 72 hours before the House votes...

TWS: Madam Speaker, do you support the measure to put the final House bill online for 72 hours before it's voted on at the very end?

PELOSI: Absolutely. Without question.

Unfortunately, as I previously indicated, the bill will not be finalized until all of the amendments are included which will not be until later this evening for tomorrow's vote which obviously sheds serious doubt on Ms. Pelosi's credibility.
