‘Tis the season for giving and despite the seriousness of the questions that have been raised regarding the validity of the science used to perpetuate to advocacy religion of climate change by the liberal left, President Obama has apparently caught the Christmas spirit.
Not wanting to arrive in Copenhagen for the World Climate Conference empty handed, the White House has stated that Obama is now seeking a “meaningful” climate deal at the United Nations summit involving a “commitment” for “rich” nations to provide $10 billion dollars a year by 2012 to help poor nations fight “climate change”, adding that the taxpayers of the United States are prepared to pay their “fair share” of the $10 billion!
Obama also has another gift that he will present to the U.N. attendees at Copenhagen later this month. It seems that Obama has become annoyed that the Senate has not moved fast enough with his proposed climate change legislation (the cap and trade bill) so he enlisted the aid of his Enviromental Protection Agency Director, Lisa P. Jacskon, who issued the following statement regarding green house gases yesterday.
“After a thorough examination of the scientific evidence and careful consideration of public comments, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced today that greenhouse gases (GHGs) threaten the public health and welfare of the American people. EPA also finds that GHG emissions from on-road vehicles contribute to that threat.”
The above finding by the EPA constitutes the legal trigger for regulating green house gases ( read that CO2) under the Clean Air Act and Obama figures that by announcing this finding prior to his trip he will increase his “green awareness” status at the summit. It could also pressure members of the U.S. Senate to speed up work on legislation to cap U.S. emissions.
In any event, these actions on the part of Obama are simply one more step on his march towards interjecting his socialist centered philosophy of an ever increasing government involvement/regulation of the private sector with the end view of taxing our free market economy into oblivion in his quest to "redistrubute the wealth" of our nation.
