Joe Wilson has Nothing to Be Ashamed Of!

On September 29, 2009, Congreessman Alan Grayson (D-Fla) ,while on the floor of the House of Representatives, stated that the Republican Health Care Plan is a simple one - "Don't Get Sick!"

The Florida Congressman went on to say that if you should get sick, the Republican Health Care Plan will ask you to "Die Quickly!"

Let's think about this for moment shall we?  A Democratic United States Congressman walks on to the floor of the House of Representatives and accuses the Republicans of having no viable contributions to the health care debate other than to advise the citizens of the country to stay healthy and that in the event they should become sick the GOP would then like those citizens to hurry up and die!

Obviously, it was not terribly surprising that after Representative Grayson left the House Floor several members of the GOP requested that he apologize for his official statements on the House Floor which were deemed inappropriate and rude.

The next day, September 30th, Congressman Grayson took to the floor of the House once again and prefaced his remarks by acknowledging that he had been requested to apologize for his remarks of the previous day.

Instead of apologizing for his remarks of the previous evening, Congressman Grayson, citing a medical report entitled Health Insurance and Mortality in US Adults,  apologized to those 44,879 Americans "who die each year because they have no health insurance...I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven't voted to end this holocaust in America!"

A quick check of the medical report in question quickly revealed that the report had concluded  that a lack of health insurance is associated with as many as 44,879 deaths per year in the United Sates…” and in no way asserted that the lack of health insurance was the cause of such deaths.

Insofar as attempting to understand the Congressman's assertion that such lack of health care has resulted in an American "holocaust", your guess is as good as mine.

After leaving the House floor, Congressman Grayson subsequently appeared on CNN where he then stated that the Republians are "knuckle dragging Neanderthals..."

Congresman Grayson concluded his CNN interview by reminding everyone that since President Obama won the election we "...now have to move ahead in just the way the President wants us to."

I initially intended to lay into Mr. Grayson but after some introspection I have decided not to attribute his actions and statements of the past few days to partisan malice as they can also be easily explained by virtue of sheer stupidity!
